View From A Stairwell
View From A Stairwell, oil on 30×48 gallery wrapped canvas. One night while watching a black and white detective movie, I watched a detective traverse a dark, dank alley where he ventured into an opened door that led him deeper into the dark and the earth as he traversed a stained and ominous stair to find a dead body. This painting is my toned down version of that stairwell. No ominous overtures but I kept the cool lines that offer a strong lead for the eye to warm blocks of blues and yellows to effect a less than ideal meeting place. Leading lines refers to a technique of composition where the viewer’s attention is drawn to lines that lead to the main subject of the image and/or creates a path for the eye to follow through key elements.
