Once I Dreamed of Camels
Once I Dreamed of Camels, oil on 58×44 custom-made gallery wrapped canvas. In this work, my yen for storytelling is probably most evident. This painting came about sometime after my oldest sister passed. At the time of her passing, I was dealing with some particularly stressful life challenges and my frustration levels were pretty high. One night, I dreamed a herd of camels walked across a large body of water. A bright full moon shone on the water and from somewhere in the cosmos, I heard my sister’s greeting. I believed then and now the dream was a message of assurance from her that I was not alone in hefting the load I carried.
