my country tis of thee
my country tis of thee, oil, acrylic, and cold wax on 48×48 gallery wrapped canvas. My intent with this work was to portray a feeling of chaos and pending doom courtesy of the current political climate. I used the symbolism of chains (mass incarceration), the confederate flag (slavery/imprisonment/duress), dying things (climate change), women’s issues, sexuality, blind justice and the American flag flying upside down in distress. The ‘assemblage’ of this work might be likened to the creation of the American Citizen from the countries of the world.
